Note on a Theorem of Putnam ' Smichael
نویسنده
چکیده
In a 1981 book, H. Putnam claimed that in a pure relational language without equality, for any model of a relation that was neither empty nor full, there was another model that satisses the same rst order sentences. Ed Keenan observed that this was false for nite models since equality is a deenable predicate in such cases. This note shows that Putnam's claim is true for innnite models, although it requires a more sophisticated proof than the one outlined by Putnam.

This paper aims to present the well-known spectral mapping theorem for multi-variable functions.
متن کاملA Note on the Descent Property Theorem for the Hybrid Conjugate Gradient Algorithm CCOMB Proposed by Andrei
In [1] (Hybrid Conjugate Gradient Algorithm for Unconstrained Optimization J. Optimization. Theory Appl. 141 (2009) 249 - 264), an efficient hybrid conjugate gradient algorithm, the CCOMB algorithm is proposed for solving unconstrained optimization problems. However, the proof of Theorem 2.1 in [1] is incorrect due to an erroneous inequality which used to indicate the descent property for the s...
متن کاملA Note on Invariants of Flows Induced by Abelian Differentials on Riemann Surfaces
The real and imaginary part of any Abelian differential on a compact Riemann surface define two flows on the underlying compact orientable C surface. Furthermore, these flows induce an interval exchange transformation on every transversal simple closed curve, via Poincaré recurrence. This note shows that the ordered K0groups of several Calgebras naturally associated to one of the flows resp. in...

In their 2000 paper, “A Note on Wittgenstein’s ‘Notorious Paragraph’ about the Gödel theorem,” Juliet Floyd and Hilary Putnam present a new analysis of Wittgenstein’s “notorious” remarks on Gödel’s first incompleteness theorem. A substantial portion of this analysis focuses on the following key claim. Let “P” be the “I am not provable” sentence from Gödel’s proof of incompleteness, and let “PM”...
